Ingredients: For the pie crust: – 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon salt – 1 teaspoon sugar – 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into small piece – 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water
For the filling: – 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) – 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberrie – 1/2 cup granulated sugar – 1/4 cup brown sugar
For the topping: – 1/4 cup rolled oat – 1/4 cup all-purpose flour – 1/4 cup brown sugar – 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small piece
Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar for the pie crust. Add the cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disk of dough into a circle large enough to fit into a 9-inch pie dish. Carefully transfer the dough to the pie dish, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides.
Roll out the second disk of dough and place it over the filling. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal the pie. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips, and bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. If the edges of the crust start to brown too quickly, you can cover them with foil.
