Ingredients 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour ¼ teaspoon salt ½ cup butter, diced and then chilled ¼ cup ice cold water, or as needed
Directions In a large bowl, mix flour and salt together. Using a pastry blender, blend in cold, chopped butter until the mixture has the consistency of coarse crumbs.
You may need less than 1/4 cup of water. Add 1 tablespoon of cold water at a time and stir with a spatula or your hands until the dough comes together.
Roll the dough into a disk, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for four or more hours or overnight.
Roll out the dough onto the rolling pin with caution, then place it over a 9-inch pie dish. Evenly press the dough into the dish's sides and bottom. Trim and flute the edges of any excess dough.
