Can Drinking a Shot of Olive Oil Every Day Help You Lose Weight?

A 2018 European Journal of Nutrition study found that people who ate olive oil instead of soybean oil for a high-fat breakfast lost more fat and had lower blood pressure.

This has a catch. One dose of olive oil a day won't help you lose weight. Olive oil can help you lose weight, but a balanced diet, frequent exercise, and a healthy lifestyle are all important.

You should still eat a variety of nutrient-dense, high-fiber foods such fruits, veggies, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins.

In substitution of saturated and trans fats, olive oil's monounsaturated fats can cut bad cholesterol and lessen heart disease risk, in addition to weight reduction.

Olive oil includes antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances that may reduce inflammation and the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Some research suggest that olive oil's monounsaturated fats may boost cognitive function and minimize cognitive decline with age.
